Autumn: September to November
Temperatures fall quickly after sunset. Add a warm fleece or insulated jacket, wool socks and a warm cap by late autumn. Houseboat decks and early Shikara rides feel colder than central-city streets.
Winter: December to February
Bring thermal base layers, fleece, insulated jacket, waterproof outer layer, warm cap, gloves, wool socks and waterproof shoes with grip. Jeans alone become cold and slow to dry. Confirm hotel and houseboat heating rather than assuming room temperature.
